Merry Christmas from LJ?

So, um, why is there suddenly a copyright notice on the bottom of every site-schemed lj page, including pages of user content, declaring copyright of LiveJournal? I can see why it would appear on site pages, but to put it on user content pages is, um, blatantly inaccurate.

Now with extra fail for the holiday season?

...um, wtf?

Rather, yes.

Is anyone talking about this? You'd think people'd be rather annoyed to see LJ claiming ownership of their work...

Not that I've seen, yet, no. It isn't real obvious, and it seems to have been done (once again) over a holiday when people have other things they're doing.

Hm ... I'm not seeing a copyright notice. Where exactly are you finding it? That could be a serious problem, especially since I post excerpts and such on my LJ.

If you look at a journal entry that doesn't have a journal style--an entry that's in the default site style, all blue and white, at the bottom, under the menu, is a copyright LJ notice. This seems likely to be one of those stupid design oversights, but perhaps a bit more legally problematic than most.

It's not that difficult to program exceptions, LJ :/

I suppose the best response is to slap a conflicting copyright notice at the end of all entries.

*snorts* You'd think not. I suspect they just didn't think at all.

If no one has mentioned this on 07refugees by Monday, I may, just to get the ball rolling.
